Ceremonial address + reception | Tuesday October 11, 2016 | 6:00 p.m.
Conference | Wednesday October 12, 2016 | 9:00 a.m.–5:30 p.m.
Hall 02 | Zollhofgarten 2 | Heidelberg

Together with the Hans Sauer Foundation the IBA Heidelberg is organizing an international symposium under the title “The Co-produced City”.
Bottom-up initiatives, innovative participation strategies or unusual networks in urban development – urban developers have long been discussing “planning the unplannable”, which reaches far beyond unknown practices of citizens’ participation. New digital and analogue methods and strategic partnerships can help us to create a city for everyone developed by the community. After all, the way in which we plan and build our cities changes in line with society.
October’s IBA_LAB, the symposium hosted by the IBA Heidelberg, will be the fourth edition of the event and is dedicated to precisely these themes under the title of “The Co-produced City”. How can the various interests involved in urban development come together to leverage innovation potential? What planning and participation processes are suitable when it comes to designing urban development cooperatively? How can the building plans of the public, business or citizens succeed thanks to good cooperation? What strategies and tools are needed for this purpose? IBA_LAB N°4 is all about new communities of responsibility in our cities!

Also involved are experts from at home and abroad, from architecture and urban planning, business and academia, with practical examples from all over the world.
In cooperation with the Hans Sauer Foundation.
