At IBA Heidelberg's third LAB on 7 and 8 October 2015, urban planners, architects and interested parties discussed the future of architecture for the world of science. The LAB was organized in cooperation with Heidelberg University.
Building for Education, Research and Development
The opening speech was delivered by Prof. Dr. Christoph Badelt, former rector of Vienna University of Economics and Business. In four interdisciplinary panels, professors, rectors and researchers discussed the future of Heidelberg as a science location with architects, planners and other interested parties. Prof. Dietmar Eberle of baumschlagereberle architekten and Prof. Volker Staab of Staab Architekten outlined their positions on the university city of the future.
The IBA_LAB N°3 showed that local users are influenced strongly by the architecture and planning of their buildings. Prof. Bernhard Eitel, Rector of Heidelberg University, Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Beatrix Busse, Prof. Dr. Hans-Georg Kräusslich from the University Hospital of Heidelberg and Prof. Dr. Jan Lohmann from the Centre for Organismal Studies, all key representatives of the Heidelberg sciences, gave their outlook on the collaboration of sciences and architecture.
